Tomorrow we’ll celebrate the two-year anniversary of our bike “mishap.” Our little crash pales in comparison to the catastrophes other people suffer, and that’s the very reason we celebrate. Yes, it was traumatic; yes, we both continue to have “issues” resulting from it. But when we drive down that same hill on North Valley Road [...]

Mauri took this picture yesterday in our backyard. Yes, the sky really was that blue, if only for a moment.

Quinn and I share a love for the movie “Overboard.” It’s one of those movies we’ve watched so many times that we quote from it in our everyday conversation. Today was a day of music. In this morning’s worship service the folk ensemble led us in several traditional carols and a fun rendition of “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy.” Later in the afternoon I went over to hear a Tom Fettke cantata, “Love, Joy, Peace,” performed by some folks who live at [...]

The battery-operated candles are in all of the front and side windows. They come on by themselves at dusk and go off by themselves at dawn. Talk about low-maintenance Christmas decor! At least in the evenings the Macy house looks festive. Mauri and I are getting ourselves in the Christmas spirit as well. Take a [...]

The Young Friends Singers are having their fall tour this weekend. Last night they performed at a local book/coffee shop, Chapters, and here’s a picture I took.
The group is smaller than usual, but they sang great to an audience of more than their parents and grandparents. In this picture you can’t see Mauri’s co-leader, Bethany, [...]
