Yesterday I posted our “Just Mauried” getaway car. Today on the streets of Portland we saw a van with the words “Finally Divorced” painted on the back window. Funny and sad, both.

This is my view of my dear man on the porch of the McMenamin’s Edgefield in Troutdale, over by the Columbia River gorge. We missed hearing Lyle Lovett by one day. Actually, we were very happy to sit on the porch and read.

We ate and shopped and did this one unusual thing: rode the “new” tram from lower OHSU to upper OHSU.

Quinn sent a priceless gift in an e-card with the words: “Congratulations, you two, on 14 years of marriage. We are so happy for us! (Okay, okay. We’re happy for you too.) Keep up the good work!” It’s the same gift Pete unknowingly gave us when he wrote this on a nametag as part of an assignment to write his birth order.

Both illustrate affirmation of our blended family, which I’m thankful to say has grown close as years progress. Just a few weeks ago the Denver Anderson family visited the Philadelphia Macy/Williams family, a connection that warms this mama’s heart. Here are pictures of their time together; they’re toward the beginning of this album if you want to take a look.
