indeed!

When I get to heaven, I think God will let me plan an Easter service. Actually, I think heaven will be one continual Easter service. This morning we were invited to illustrate expressions of joy similar to what those who witnessed the empty tomb might have uttered. And then we got to speak the liturgy: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Those of us who helped with the sung worship got to do this three times. That in itself is worth all the time invested in rehearsing. And we got to sing “In Christ Alone” three times. Do you know this modern-day hymn? You can listen and even learn it here. You might as well learn it now because if you attend one of my Easter services in heaven, we’ll be singing it. Often. Continually.

For the past 13 years or so, Quinn and I have exchanged faxes on Easter Sunday morning. It goes pretty much the same: one of us faxes a handwritten “Christ is risen!” and the other returns it with “He is risen indeed” added. It’s a tradition, along with listening to the CD “The Majesty and Glory of the Resurrection.” Some traditions die away but these hang on. This year we had to update our method, since Mauri and I gave away our fax machine. So I wrote the important words on a sheet of paper and enclosed it in a small package of Easter goodies for the grandkids. This morning, CD playing full blast, I checked my e-mail and found this:

Our local family plus some who visited gathered after third service for a simple meal and togetherness. Tomorrow is MomHazel’s 86th birthday so we sang and ate cake in her honor. That’s her older son, Howard.

CHRIST IS RISEN!

One Response to “indeed!”

  1. He is risen indeed!

Thanks you for your work yesterday. It was a blessing to be able to worship with my girls (could you hear them belting out “Christ the Lord is Risen Today”?) I think my favorite part was watching Meira sing–at the top of her capable lungs–”sin’s curse has lost its grip on me.” I love knowing that she can face her entire future with that confidence.
