fall tour

The Young Friends Singers are having their fall tour this weekend. Last night they performed at a local book/coffee shop, Chapters, and here’s a picture I took.

The group is smaller than usual, but they sang great to an audience of more than their parents and grandparents. In this picture you can’t see Mauri’s co-leader, Bethany, sitting on the floor in front of the kids, smiling broadly as she helps the singers remember the words or which way to step or when to clap or when to come to the mic for a solo.
This afternoon they’ll sing twice at a local nursing home and then again tomorrow morning at our annual combined service at George Fox University’s Bauman Auditorium. “Combined” means that all three of our morning services will gather in one place big enough to hold all 600 or so people. It’s a favorite for me, and this will be the first time in my 13 years here to not participate from the platform.
By the time Jolee hit the sack, she’d watched the video I took of the concert two times.
It’s fun to watch all the kids’ different personalities that I missed during the actual concert. Like Grace’s fidgeting with her necklace, Jolee’s complete lack of looking happy, Moriah giving her sister a push when Lia was late for her solo, Thomas bopping up and down regularly, and Crystal looking up at the ceiling fan … a lot. I love ‘em!
I was really happy to see Zachary singing. The first time I heard him talk was moving, but reflecting last night while watching him sing was stronger. Praise the Lord. Thank God for all the children.
