thanks, boss — thanks, dm

I had a two-day turnaround, both at home and at the office, and a taste of normalcy with my dear man. Now I’m in Denver for a week and a half to be Gus to the Anderson kiddos while Quinn and Dusty bask in the rays of San Jose Del Cabo (Mexico) sunshine. They can freely enjoy the luxurious treatment they receive from the One and Only Palmilla because it’s all provided by CMiC, the result of Dusty’s sales incentive accomplishment. This will be the longest stretch of time Cass will be separated from her mama and vice versa. How well they manage remains to be seen, but I came prepared with incentives of my own that I hope will divert attention from the missing ones, should the need arise…no, when the need arises. So far so good.
On the second of my two days in the office, one of my bosses (we’re in transition, so I have two bosses at the moment) said he feels bad that I plan to work when I’m visiting my family. I told him I really don’t mind at all, that it helps me keep up with what’s going on and makes the reentry easier. But it’s a whole lot more than that! If I couldn’t do my work from my “remote office,” I wouldn’t be able to take so much time away. The church would have to hire someone else to do it.
I just passed the four-year mark in my office administrator position at NFC. When Gregg interviewed me for the job he wondered how I’d manage without the freedom I’d enjoyed with my freelance work. At the time, I was a day away from departing on a solo road trip to Denver, where granddaughter Cassidy was due to make her first appearance. Gregg and I agreed: If they chose me for the position, I’d keep track of my comp hours and use them to go see my kids.
So today I want to say to Gregg—please don’t feel bad. If it weren’t for our agreement and my handy dandy laptop and the understanding support of a husband who willingly shares, I’d be missing out on this:

What great guys! And what a great life that you get to balance your work and your family so well! You’re a lucky lady
Well, GOOD. Enjoy yourself! And thanks again.
You’re going to have to start making these trips with my mom in a couple of months!
