church friends

Posted By Sherry on December 21, 2006

The older I get the more conscious I become of the futility of saying, “I’ll never forget such and such or so and so.” Instead I try to say, “I hope I never forget … “

I hope I never forget the instant response of my younger friend Michelle when I asked her if she would be willing to work on a church photo project. She said, “Sure! I’ll do whatever.” I remember thinking we could use more Michelles in this world. Of course there’s a limit to what any one of us can do, but I just loved her attitude. Yesterday I checked the blog she shares with her husband, Alan, and found their Christmas letter posted for all of us to read. There it was! That same attitude demonstrated in the description of the events of their year. Their love for God and family weaves all the life elements together. They enter into life wholeheartedly and warmheartedly—warm toward people, warm toward our church and to service in it, warm toward God. I like their attitude. I hope some of it rubs off on me.

If you want a spritz of positivity, click here for their website and from there click on “2006 Christmas Letter.” It has some graphics that take a moment to download but will be worth the wait and the time to read.

And while I’m introducing you to some of my church friends, last night at worship ensemble rehearsal Irene handed me a gift bag and said she’d decided to wait until she found the perfect present for me and this was it. I am overjoyed! It’s the name Mauri has chosen to call me for 12 years. Thanks, Irene!
