social butterflies

We’ve been with people for days and days and days. For two socially reticent individuals, this can take its toll. There were lots of people at Dad Williams’s memorial service and lots of people at our house the week of the Fourth and lots of people at Harbor Villa last weekend where our combined families played games and enjoyed the beach. There were lots of people out at the same spot this weekend to enjoy our triennial Macy family reunion. We returned a day early in order to drive the folks home after dinner. On the way back to our house we sighed a collective sigh, feeling fully blessed with all the opportunities we had had to enjoy our kids, our grandkids, our extended family, and others—but also fully relieved that the end was in sight…that maybe we might have a respite from the social scene. Literally 30 seconds into the door the phone rang. It was Fred Neumann calling to invite us to join Rose and him at their home for a casual dinner with four other friends on Monday night. Mauri and I looked at each other, grinned from ear to ear, and answered enthusiastically, YES! We wouldn’t dream of missing that.
don’t get too social-ed out, I’m bringing my kiddos (and myself) to town this week and I want to see you too. =) I hope that doesn’t feel too stressful. (hee hee) Will we see you at my mom’s b-day party?
Gee, we’re coming down for three weeks and bringing 10 friends…that won’t be a problem will it?
